It was a perfect night for the tree lighting! We, as a community raised a total of $1,700 towards this cause, and 100% of proceeds was divided equally amongst forty students at Sierra Ridge middle school. Pacific Gas & Electric News

The History of Helms,

PG&E’s Underground Power Plant

Hidden in a granite cavern deep within California’s Sierra Nevada mountains sits the Helms Pumped Storage Power Plant. This hydroelectric marvel generates over 1,200 megawatts of power, helping to stabilize the grid during peak demand periods. Helms’ true superpower is its ability to move millions of gallons of water between its two interconnected reservoirs, acting as a massive renewable battery available to come online within minutes to meet electricity demand. It’s fast, efficient, and key to California’s ambitious clean energy future. Go behind the scenes to see how a dedicated workforce keeps this technological masterpiece running and learn about the innovative engineering vision that was decades ahead of its time.
